Ok, so our Halloween adventures started last Saturday with pumpkin carving. Paul let Gavin pick the pattern of the faces, so of course he picked very complicated ones with some details on them. But Paul was up to the challenge. Long after Gavin lost interest, Paul was working hard for 4 hours to get those pumpkins carved the way Gavin wanted.
Then on the following Friday, Gavin's school had a day for the kids to dress up as their favorite book character. Gavin has really become interested in the Cat in the Hat lately and I figured I could make a hat and bow tie with little expense. Gavin really loved it and wanted to wear it everyday. Then Friday came. I helped Gavin out of the car at his school and then his panic kicked in. I have never seen this from Gavin before, so I was very surprised when he said, "Mom, they will say I am silly." I gave him a hug and told him that other kids would also be dressed up and that everyone would love his costume. He was not convinced, until he saw another kid in a turtle costume also going into school. He was still embarrassed though and the moment he walked into his class he took off his costume.
Once he was home, I asked him if he had a good day. He told me that he got to be in a costume parade. He seemed to have gotten over his embarrassment.

I was hoping that you would post Halloween pictures. Only- pictures of that baby girl break my heart and remind me how much I miss her. Good job on the Cat in the Hat costume, just the first of many things you will have to come up with for school. And Paul did an amazing job on those pumpkins, Gavin must have been impressed! You are a great Mom! Love you so much!!!
